Scalp Micropigmentation Technology

What is Scalp Micropigmentation?

Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) is a non-invasive technique designed to mimic hair follicles by injecting colourants into the scalp, creating a balanced and voluminous effect for those experiencing hair loss.

This internationally recognised technique offers a safer, faster, and more effective solution for hair loss, avoiding the lengthy, risky, and costly nature of surgery. It has quickly become one of the most popular hair-visual techniques available!

The History of Scalp Tattooing

Scalp microneedling first emerged in the beauty industry during this period. Initially used for treating scars and burned bald spots, early techniques produced coarse and often ineffective results, with some pigments turning blue or green over time.

Early Medical Use

1970-1980

In the 1990s, professional scalp tattooists began using thinner needles and pigments to imitate hair follicles, leading to the early version of SMP. While this method improved on earlier techniques, it still required long hours to achieve a balanced look, often resulting in spotted appearances.

The Innovative Era of NPM

In 2014, the Israeli company NPM pioneered the first patented roller, revolutionising the field with one of the most innovative technologies available today!

NPM Roller

Developed in Israel and patented in 2014 (Patent Number: 61-561-949), NPM is a patented roller tool with 56 ultra-fine needles, allowing pigment to be deposited into the first layer of skin without damaging underlying tissues or hair follicles.

This method uses natural plant-based pigments, providing a natural appearance that can last between 3 to 5 years. NPM is particularly suitable for larger areas, making it an ideal choice for those seeking comprehensive coverage or a fuller look in a shorter time!

SMP (Single-Needle)

Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP)  uses a single needle to create realistic dots on the scalp, effectively camouflaging thinning areas and creating the illusion of a fuller head of hair. SMP is excellent for detailed work, especially on smaller areas or scars. Zcalp integrates SMP with other techniques to ensure a seamless and natural transition for our customers.

Semi-Permanent Hairline Tattoo

The Semi-Permanent Hairline Tattoo technique focuses on recreating the appearance of individual hair strands along the hairline. It provides a soft and natural finish that gives clients a well-defined hairline without the permanence of traditional tattoos.
